Ann makes these amazing flowers and accessories using all silk thread wrapped around paper and wire. This unique and ancient art takes a good amount of time and patience which is probably why it is very rarely done. Ann is working to preserve this craft with her fabulous goods. So let’s see what she has to say about it.

What…is your name?

My name is Ann, and my shop name is It Really Adds Something!

What…do you make?

I make handmade silk thread accessories using a very unique Chinese folk art technique that is slowly disappearing as it takes a lot of time and patience to make, which is such a pity because this form of art is so beautiful.

What… is your favorite color?

If I have to pick one, it will be blue.

What… is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Hmmm… I don’t know, is it African or European? :P I can’t believe someone actually had time to do this: http://www.style.org/unladenswallow/

(that person is my new hero)

What … is your main influence?

The traditional form of this craft is making flowers, and since I first learned this craft from my grand auntie by making flowers, I get my inspirations from all the pretty flowers out there. I’ve been experimenting with other designs recently and anything that I see would be an influence for me. And of course I have to give some credit to my very supportive boyfriend, he would often give me some great ideas.

Where… is your shop?
