Tips and tricks – Item Descriptions
As both a buyer and seller of handmade goods I thought I would start posting some of things that sellers do that could make me not buy their stuff. So I figure I would start with item descriptions.
1. Do NoT tYpE lYkE dIs - I don’t care if you are a tween typing in sticky caps is a surefire way for me to not buy your wares. You can make the cutest stuff in the world but if I can’t read the description guess what I am gonna run away. Even if selling online is a hobby for you, you are still a business.
2. Too many adjectives in your item title. – If the title to your item looks like you ravaged your thesaurus it makes me a sad panda. If I have to read a laundry list of adjectives until I get to what your item is I will probably be bored by the time I get there. If you really want to sneak them in there since I know it is just a method of getting more hits through search put what your item is and then the word journey of descriptive words after.
3. You never explained what your item is. – Getting creative with your descriptions is great but please try to refrain from taking psychotropic drugs before you plan on writing them. Everyone likes a good story but if you are like me and allergic to life you really want to know what was used in making your dragon claw or what not.
So for the recap- If you TyPe LyKe DiS you should be banned from the internets and all your coolness points are revoked. Don’t add a zillion adjectives to your title or else your thesaurus is going to go all monster book of monsters on you (well we all can dream). Last but not least Acid + Etsy is not a winning combination.
